DAY

Arrival

no-meals
1

Welcome to the Land of Ice and Fire!

The first view you'll get is the stunning lava fields of Reykjanes peninsula. Enjoy the lunar landscape of Iceland on your travel from the airport to the city. You'll soon be in the northernmost capital in the world, where you have the remainder of the day to explore and experience the unique Nordic vibe. Check out the sculptures by the seaside, wander past colourful corrugated iron houses and eat in style in one of the many wonderful and creative restaurants in the city.

As night falls, take advantage of a complimentary Northern Lights tour. You may choose what kind of Northern Lights experience you prefer: By boat or by bus. Go for the boat tour in the Old Harbour, to see the dancing lights over the ocean while the wind plays with your hair, or choose a bus tour to head out into the countryside under cover of darkness and watch for glimmers of colour against a backdrop of the Icelandic wilderness.

Your accommodation will be in the city centre of Reykjavik for tonight and the next 2 nights.

DAY

The Famous Golden Circle

no-meals
2

Your day will start early, so put on good shoes and grab your camera; you're going out to see some of Iceland's finest attractions. The Golden Circle is a set of three locations in the southwest part of the island. The first one is Þingvellir National Parliament Park, where the first Icelandic parliament gathered in the year 930 AD. The deep rifts in the landscape, created by earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, have given Iceland its unique look and now offer a great chance to stride down the great cleft Almannagjá, by Öxará river.

If you choose to go horseback riding then that activity will take place before heading to Þingvellir National Park, or if you opt for snorkelling then the snorkelling tour happens at the clear waters of Silfra by Þingvellir Lake.

Your second stop is the valley Haukadalur, where the one and only Great Geysir holds court with the numerous other smaller geysers that will bubble and burst for your entertainment. The largest one, called Strokkur ('The Churner'), has a blast that reaches a good 40 m (131 ft) into the air! Just make sure to stand upwind, or you might get awfully wet!

The last stop of the day will be the magnificent canyon of Hvítá glacial river, where the monstrous Gullfoss, the Golden Waterfall, crashes down from high above into the screaming white of the rushing water below.

If snowmobiling is your chosen option of today then you'll head to Langjökull glacier from Gullfoss waterfall.

On the way back to the city after a spin around the Golden Circle, you’ll make a stop at the Blue Lagoon, for a sensory experience unique to Iceland. Release all your tension, letting the azure water soothe tired muscles and joints.

Please note that if you have arranged additional activities with your Golden Circle tour, such as snorkelling, horseback riding or snowmobiling, your visit to the Blue Lagoon will be scheduled on your arrival or departure day instead, so you will have time to take full advantage of its restorative powers. The Lagoon is world-famous for its healing, mineral-rich waters - This is not a place you want to rush.

Your accommodation will be in Reykjavík for the evening.

DAY

The Wild South Coast

no-meals
3

Be sure not to venture behind Seljalandsfoss waterfall during winter as the icy conditions are extremely slippery and dangerous.

This day is for those who adore nature and all that it has to offer, from high mountains to low beaches, white glaciers, and black cliffs.

You'll head out along the south coast, traveling under the magnificent Eyjafjallajökull glacier, that gained notoriety for clearing the skies of airplanes a while back, and the great white cap of its bigger brother, Mýrdalsjökull glacier. Two of Iceland's loveliest waterfalls, Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, are tucked under the glacier.

You will be exploring Seljalandsfoss behind the cascading water for a unique view. After that, you can see the Sólheimajökull glacier tongue, where it reaches out toward the black sands of Sólheimar below.

If you want to try your hand (and foot) at the most popular outdoor activity in Iceland, opt for an upgrade with glacier hiking at Sólheimajökull, and you will step on top of the vast expanse that together covers 11% of Iceland's surface.

After this visit to some of the most stunning landscapes Iceland has to offer, you will return to Reykjavík, for one last night in the coolest capital in the world.

DAY

Farewell to Iceland

no-meals
4

Reykjavík is the northernmost capital of the world, known for its great selection of parks and scenic public spaces.

All good things come to an end, and on this day it is time to say goodbye. Depending on your flights, you may have the morning at peace in the city, or, if you prefer, you could visit the Blue Lagoon, if you didn't have a chance to do so before.

You'll be at the airport in time for your flight to check in and enjoy the last look of the dark, desolate fields around the airport before heading home.

We hope to see you again in Iceland!
